Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is a first person tactical military video game developed by Codemasters for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising was released on October 6, 2009 and it is an unofficial stand-alone sequel to Bohemia Interactive’s Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, but was developed entirely by Codemasters due to a falling-out between the two companies.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, the long awaited second installment of war simulator which was a landmark in the genre, puts the player in the war more real environment than might be desired. This game, which strives to offer a full war experience, will challenge players to survive the chaos and fast pace of today's battles in a current. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is a game about a fictitious conflict on one of the Sakhalin islands, a conflict that is in danger of erupting onto a global scale. The player takes the role of a US soldier, part of the allied force fighting against outnumbering Chinese forces vying for.

In Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, players will experience the intensity, diversity and claustrophobia of a modern conflict from the unique perspectives of an infantry marine, a helicopter pilot, a Special Forces officer or a tank commander, each engaged against the full force of the Chinese PLA on a scale never previously experienced in a military action title.

The game centers on a campaign narrative that gives the player a variety of roles in the allied forces ranging from a Marine Infantry, tank commander, Special Forces and helicopter captain. The game has an incredible realistic depiction of war with careful attention to the detail of the weapons, equipment and tactics of the armed forces. The action is varied from intense fire fights through to slower pace tactical decision making on how to best tackle the mission objectives.
