A while back, my laptop lost its ethernet connection following a reboot. Didn't really bother me at first, still had wireless. Now I find myself needing it again.
The ethernet controller is straight up gone. Doesn't show up in Device Manager, reinstalling drivers (both by HP and Realtek) give a 'Realtek Ethernet Controller not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled, plug in the cable' error. Thing is, it's plugged in and the link state lights are on.
Other than reinstalling the drivers, I have:
gone into the BIOS and set Internal Network Boot to disabled, booted up, set it to enabled, booted up and nothing changed.
BIOS update, tried the above procedure again, same results.
Pulled the power and the battery for ~10 minutes, no results.
