Completely irrelevant! It discusses programs rather than drivers. The problem, as previously stated, is that Windows 7 and the Canon installer are putting the DRIVERS in the WRONG directory, namely into C:Canoscan instead of C:WindowsTwain_32. So there are no 'programs' icons to use with any compatability settings. That could ONLY work, if at all, with the CanoScan Toolbox - but that installs and appears to run properly apart from not being able to 'see' the device as the driver is not correctly installed! Note that in the previous Windows XCP Pro installation, the drivers and toolbox were put in the correct directories and it worked very well for 10 years! But W7 can't cope with it for some daft reason.
I have previously stated, more than once, that Canon Support tell me there are NO drivers suitable for use with Windows 7 32bit. The nearest they could suggest was the Vista drivers but they get installed into the wrong directory too!
It is perhaps worth noting that even though I have used the Canon uninstall utility to try to remove the driver, it still appears in the hardware list! So either Windows is incorrectly adding a driver, even though the scanner is disconnected, or preventing the proper removal of the driver - perhaps because it was put in the wrong place and the hardware list is retaining old and outdated data.
Must try harder is my verdict this time!
